I don’t know if I should be saying this, or saying it here, but here we are. The image above is the 150th daily comic strip I have drawn this year. There is quite a backstory to all this, which I am excited to share somewhere, with someone. I’m not sure if this is the place.

The backstory includes an Uber ride to the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum at THE Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio (not to be confused with OSU, in Corvallis, Oregon). The backstory includes Oregon State University, newspapers, newspaper comics, high schools, teaching, poetry, and personified gourds and melons and pineapples and tree frogs and crows and slugs and snails and beavers and nutria and spotted owls and crawfish and cardinals and raccoons and blue-tailed skinks and a sleeping sasquatch and fact-obsessed badger and a limerick-spewing newt and no lions or tigers, but one bear named Barry, after Barry Lopez. And so on.

It’s Sunday, and I had mixed feelings about slicing up a pineapple and a cantaloupe and a honeydew for our breakfast this morning. Eating together, it felt like some weird communion ceremony.

I don’t know. Happy Sunday.
